The Cottage Children's Center is a private, non-profit child care center that is a model for quality childcare.  The Cottage was founded in 1981 by a group of Marlborough parents and was incorporated as a 501 (c)(3) nonprofit organization in 1988.  The Cottage is governed by a volunteer board of directors made up of parents, alumni parents, and community leaders. The Center is managed by an executive director and an assistant director and is licensed by the Massachusetts Office for Early Education and Care.

Since 2001, the center has been accredited through the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC). NAEYC administers the largest and most widely recognize national, professionally sponsored accreditation system for all types of early childhood schools and child care centers.  NAEYC is the nations largest professional organization for early childhood educators.
