- SPRING PICNIC - FAMILY FUN NIGHT - Thursday, May 27th - Just before memorial Day weekend the Cottage family gathered to celebrate the end of the school year. For some of our families this was bittersweet as they were leaving us after as many as 7 years at the Cottage! We celebrate children's milestones, but one of those sadly is leaving the Cottage to go to "big" school. We certainly take pride in preparing them well.
- KINDERGARTEN GRADUATION - We were so pleased to have Barbara McGann, Executive Director of the AMSA as our guest speaker. Our graduates enjoyed brunch with their families and then presented their graduation program. Karrie Paul, our Kindergarten teacher was honored with the Cottage Commitment Award for her dedication to the Cottage for the past 6 years. All the classes prepared posters and sang at graduation. We were fortuante to have special guests, Representative Danielle Gregoire and from the Marlbrough Chamber of Commerce, Cathy Magavera, COO.
- ENROLLING FOR KINDERGARTEN & PREKINDERGARTEN PROGRAM - Our enriched programs use Everyday Math and Handwriting with out Tears. The Kindergarteners use Reading Street by Scott Forsman as their reading curriculum. PreKindergartnen follows the scholastic periodical Clifford and Kindergarten follows Weekly Reader. Both of these are excellent programs for preparing your child for a positive experience at school.
- DANCE RECITAL- The children who participate in dance presented their recital on June 17th. They are all so precious in their little outfits. It is fun to watch this performance even if your child does not participate in the dance enrichment program.
- MAY POLE DANCE - May Day at the Cottate is always celebrated with the Maypole dance. We have a pole that we made with beautiful streamers and flowers attached. It is always a highlight of our May family fun night. Parents and child dance around the pole together while our DJ, A Touch of Class, keeps the music playing.
- SUMMER ACTIVITIES - Summer activities are underway at the Cottage. The policeman visited today. The children wanted to know why he had shorts on. I guess they didn't feel that was appropriate attire for a police officer. Waterplay is underway which the children in all the classrooms enjoy. Our first field trip will be right after the 4th. We are visiting an area farm.
- TANABATA - On July 7th, the Cottage will join children from China and Japan in celebrating Tanabata, Star festival. It is centered around two stars that meet up only once a year. During this time the people decorate streamers with their wishes and hang them on bamboo trees. We will be duplicating that custom but will be using the traditional artificial tree of the holidays. .
